The Decorah Viking Athletic Booster Club has made a $7,500 donation to the Winneshiek County Flood Relief program.
Dallas Steffans from the DVABC presented the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce the check for $7,500. The group collected money from concessions raised during a recent home football game. The DVABC then matched the contribution to support those impacted by the flood.
To date, more than $53,000 has been raised toward the program, which is a joint partnership with Northeast Iowa Community Action, Winneshiek County United Way and the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce.
Applications for those impacted can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office. All those impacted by the recent flooding are encouraged to apply. All money raised will be redistributed for flood relief. Applications will be collected through the end of September. A committee will review all applications on a case-by-case basis and in SEPTEMBER will determine how to distribute the funds.
Checks are made out to NEICAC Flood Relief. Write on the check the county the funds should be directed towards (Winneshiek, Howard, Allamakee, Fayette or Clayton). Contributions are tax-deductible.
