New program is encouraging Decorah residents to shop locally

The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce and 30 participating merchants have begun a "Shift Your Shopping" campaign.

The campaign is aimed at encouraging Winneshiek County residents to shop locally.  It includes an informational packet which contains "Shift Your Shopping" information and a punch card.  The information tells local residents about the discounts or items they will receive when shopping at a participating merchant.  The punch cards get punched at the merchants and then can be returned to the Chamber to be entered in drawings for $125 in Chamber Dollars.

"Money has the biggest impact where it's spent. That revenue pays employee wages, taxes, and local causes," said DACC Executive Director Nikki Brevig.
