The Winneshiek County Recorder's Office will be holding a Passport Day from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Winneshiek County Courthouse. The event is aimed at busy families and other people who can't come in to the office during the week.
In order to get a passport, you will need to bring your certified birth certificate or an expired passport, two separate checks and your driver's license. If your driver's license is from another state, you will need to bring in one additional form of ID, such as a college ID, charge card or health insurance card. More information is available at www.travel.state.gov , especially information regarding children 16 years old and under.
A passport photo will also be required. The Recorder's Office can take a photo for a fee for $10.
If you visit the state's website and download the passport form, do NOT sign the form before coming into the Recorder's Office. If you fill out the form, make sure to use black ink.
