--The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce and Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation have created a flood relief fund similar to the one they developed in 2008. Donations can be dropped off at the Chamber office, 507 W. Water St. Make checks payable to "NEICAC-Flood Fund" and write the county you wish to have the funds designated for in the memo line. Flood victims can fill out applications in September and October; a committee will review the applications and allocate funds.
--Donations of clothing can be dropped off at the Depot Outlet, 510 Montgomery Street, in Decorah. NEICAC offices at 305 Montgomery Street have coupons that can be redeemed for clothing at the Depot Outlet.
--Winneshiek County Social Services is available to help those with disabilities complete applications for assistance and to assess and coordinate what is necessary to meet each individual's needs. Individuals seeking assistance through this program can stop by the office in the Annex of the Winneshiek County Courthouse (204 W Broadway, Decorah) or call (563) 387-4144, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Special appointments beyond regular business hours can also be made by individual request.
--The Winneshiek County Veterans Affairs Office is announcing that veterans or surviving spouses of veterans who have had substantial damages due to the floods should contact their local County Veterans AffairsOffice for referrals and resources.
--Bremer County and Chickasaw County are now included in the State of Iowa's disaster declaration. Residents of those counties can get flood cleanup assistance by contacting NEICAC's Bremer County Office – (319) 352-4532 or their Chickasaw County Office – (641) 394-2007 for details.
