John e-mails: "How come you posted the story about (a meeting being held to discuss) the dog attack on the NICC Calmar campus, but haven't followed up on (the city council's decision)?
Mr. Answer Person says: "You make a good point. Although it has been somewhat busy in the decorahnews.com newsroom lately!"
The Calmar City Council met and heard testimony about a 5-year-old pit bull and a 2-year-old bulldog and their two offspring. The four dogs were involved in an attack on a woman and her dog.
After hearing an hour and a half of testimony, the Calmar City Council voted 5-0 to declare the dogs were "vicious animals." Calmar city council members expressed their concern regarding liability issues should the dogs be allowed to leave Calmar and go to another community, but then be involved in a similar incident. They voted 5-0 to require the dogs to be euthanized, which has happened.
