The flooding has ended, but the cleanup continues.
Many Winneshiek County residents spent the weekend in their basements and garages trying to clean up the debris left by Wednesday's flooding. Clean up kits are still available at the Decorah Fire Station.
Flood damaged soft goods can be disposed of in the dumpsters at the Winneshiek County Recycling Center or the lower level Oneota Community Parking Lot. All white goods (freezers, water heaters, microwaves, etc) must be taken to the Winneshiek County Recycling Center. Contaminated sand bags can be taken to the Winneshiek County Landfill, normal landfill rates apply.
Water and sewer service has returned to normal and the Decorah and Freeport water supplies continue to be safe to use and drink.
