Congressman Rod Blum stopped off in Decorah Monday afternoon to help Winneshiek County Republicans dedicate their new offices on Water Street.
Blum told the audience that during the last two years in Washington, D.C., "I did what I said I would do."
Specifically, he believes our country is heading in the wrong direction, taken there by the political ruling class. To reform the system, he introduced legislation to ban congressmen from using first class airline tickets, to impose a lifetime ban on lobbying for ex-congressmen and to remove John Boehner as Speaker of the House.
The changes affecting members of Congress didn't win approval, but, as Blum noted, "Boehner's gone and I'm still standing."
Blum is seeking re-election this fall, running against Democrat Monica Vernon of Cedar Rapids in a campaign that is predicted to see $7 million worth of campaign spending.
