The latest Winneshiek County flooding information, as of noon Thursday:
Emergency personnel are continuing to respond to flooding. Residents from the Freeport area may return to their homes as long as they are able to do so without crossing water covered roads. Please avoid the areas of Freeport, Spillville and Fort Atkinson as residents are very busy cleaning and the extra traffic is not needed.
Citizens Savings Bank in Spillville will be a location where meals are being provided to residents affected and also portable bathrooms. There are several secondary roads that are closed but all state highways are open. Drive cautiously.
Winneshiek County Emergency Management has established an email 2016flood@co.winneshiek.ia.us and requests that Winneshiek County residents send pictures and damage estimates to this email. This information will be helpful in assessing the damage in Winneshiek County and also for grants. You can also dial 563-277-5123 and provide this information.
No donations of any type are being accepted as we have no organized system at this time.
