Emergency personal are continuing to respond to flooding. Do not go near the river, and stay off the dike. Residents from the Freeport area may return to their homes as long as they are able to do so without crossing water covered roads.
The shelter at Stone Ridge Church will close at 6pm tonight (Wednesday). Country Inn and Suites (1202 Hwy 9 West Decorah, IA 52101, (563)382-9646) is offering a rate of $75 per night for those that are displaced due to flooding. A shelter will open at 8am tomorrow at the Decorah Public Library.
Flood Damage Waste Disposal:
'White Goods' (refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, freezers, dehumidifiers, water heaters, etc.) should be brought to the Recycling Center in Freeport (2510 172nd Ave.)
'Soft Items' (carpet, furniture, rugs, etc.) can be taken to the lower Oneota Community Coop Parking Lot or the Recycling Center Thursday, August 25th at 10am through Sunday, August 28th. Please direct all questions regarding disposal of flood damaged items to Winneshiek County Recycling, (563)379-6239.
Water conservation:
Sewage treatment facilities are running at capacity. Residents are asked limit water usage.
