6:35am Wednesday: 7.58 inches of rain falls on Decorah

A storm system that stayed in place for multiple hours has dumped heavy rains on Winneshiek, Howard and Allamakee counties overnight.

The National Weather Service Office has issued a Flood Warning for Winneshiek and Allamakee counties and for southern Howard County and northern Chickasaw counties.

The Weather Service says serious flooding is occurring in the Spillville area and between Decorah and Waukon.  "Some homes have been flooded with water rescues ongoing," says the Weather Service.

The official Decorah rain gauge reported 7.58 inches of rain as of 6:00 a.m.  Bluffton's rain gauge had 4.31 inches of rain; Riceville reported 4.26 inches of rain and Dorchester had 5.67 inches of rain.
