Corey asks: "Now that the decision has been made to purchase the Indianola fire truck, what will be done with the old one? It has to be worth something to offset the cost of the new/used truck."
Mr. Answer Person says: "You're absolutely right that it's worth something, Corey. It's a little hard to determine just how much it's worth because it currently has a problem in that the aerial ladder can only turn right, not left. The problem could be fixed and the fire truck sold—or it could be sold as is. That's a judgement call as to which approach would net more money. Fire Chief Mike Ashbacher guesses that the fire truck could be sold for between $40,000 to $150,000—depending on what's done and what the market is like.
Either way, whatever money is earned from the sale of the existing 1999 aerial ladder fire truck will be applied to paying down the loan on the new fire truck.
