A fundraiser to support programs for clean water will be held later in August at McCaffrey's Dolce Vita restaurant in Decorah.
Event organizer Ric Zarwell says the program will run from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd, and will be officially hosted by the Iowa Conservation Voters Political Action Committee.
Former state legislator and Winneshiek County Supervisor John Beard and Luther College graduate Dr. Michael Osterholm, the director of Center for Infection Disease Research and Policy, will be among the hosts.
Zarwell says the Iowa Conservation Voters PAC is trying to get the state legislature to approve funding for the National Resources Trust Fund. In November of 2010, Iowa voters supported the creation of the Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund, but the state legislature did not approve a funding source.
