A powerful and fast-moving storm roared through Decorah shortly after 6:00 p.m. Thursday.
The storm knocked out electrical power for around two hours in much of Decorah. It also downed numerous tree branches with wind gusts of up to 63 miles an hour at the Decorah Airport. Many roads were blocked by trees and lines.
Street Department workers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, utility department workers, emergency management personnel and others worked during the evening to clear the roads and make the area safe.
The sound of chainsaws could be heard in yards scattered throughout the city.
