The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has released some additional details of its project at the Trout Run Park, scheduled to begin in September.

The DNR plans to reconstruct the highway entrance, roadways, parking lots, canoe access and trail connection at Bowstring Bridge/Trout Run Park. As a result of this, during construction it will be necessary for riders to detour from the existing trail about 300 feet.

The project is aimed at improving access for motorists and for park users; paving the roadway and parking lots; upgrading the canoe access; upgrading the road and parking lot along Trout Run Creek; and reconstructing about 300 feet of trail.

Work is scheduled to begin September 15th and be completed around May 14th of next year--barring weather delays and unforeseen conditions. The trail will remain open for the Loop de Loop 5k and Half-Marathon on Saturday, September 24th.
