The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department on Thursday released details of four traffic accidents that have happened in the past month.
On Monday, July 25th, 22-year-old Levi Watenphul of Leroy, Minnesota was traveling east bound on County B-16 when he attempted to make the curve in the roadway, lost control and the semi and the trailer rolled onto its side. No ambulance was needed. Watenphul was cited for failure to have control of the vehicle. The accident caused $25,000 in damages.
On Saturday, July 9th, 26-year-old Corey Snitker of Postville stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of 150th Street and 130th Avenue, pulled out at a high rate of speed, lost control, went into the south ditch, came out of the ditch, went into the north ditch and the pick-up rolled. No ambulance was needed. Snitker was cited for reckless driving. The accident caused $10,000 in damages.
On Friday, July 1st, 63-year-old Eric Lambie of Mapleton, Illinois was eastbound on Quandahl Road and entered the south ditch and rolled into the trout stream. Sheriff's deputies were assisted by a DNR officer at the scene. No ambulance transport was needed. Lambie was issued citations for failure to maintain control, no proof of insurance and ATV operation on roadway.
Finally, on Thursday, June 30th, 32-year-old Elizabeth Goodwin of Lisbon, Iowa was eastbound on County Road B32 and failed to navigate the curve and put the car in the ditch. The vehicle entered the ditch and rolled over a couple of times. No ambulance transport was needed. The accident caused $15,000 in damages. Goodwin was not ticketed.
