Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner applications being accepted

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey is encouraging people to consider running for Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner. Anyone interested in running for this office needs to file nomination papers by the last day of August.

Currently, Winneshiek County has an active group of eight commissioners, including several with many years of service on the board. Three spots on the SWCD board will be up for election in November but each of the three people currently serving in those posts said that they would seek re-election--Board Chair John Lubke, Board Treasurer Danny Leidahl and long-time board member David Roslein.
