Decorah native and Marquette University graduate Nick Nelson has been named a Division I Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for the second straight season.
Nelson graduated from Decorah High School in 2011 before moving to Milwaukee to be a part of Marquette's golf team. In his senior season at Marquette Nelson was a first team All-Big East selection, earning accolades from the conference for the second time in his career. He was second on the team and seventh in the league with a 73.38 stroke average. He also maintained a 3.4 GPA throughout college.
Nelson is fresh from a victory at the 115th Annual Wisconsin State Amateur Championship, where he maintained his lead over the final 10 holes to hold off golfer Thomas Longbella.
Nelson is planning to begin courses at Marquette Law School this fall.
