Winneshiek County Republican Party Chair praises Donald Trump's convention speech

Winneshiek County Republican Party Chair Thomas Hansen is giving good marks to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's remarks at the end of the Republican Party's national convention.  "I thought it was a heartfelt speech," says Hansen, adding, "Trump is in touch with the average American citizen."

Hansen sees Trump's rise to political fame as part of the trend of revolutionary politics. "Trump wants to bring about real change and Hillary (Clinton) is just politics as usual," Hansen said. "Trump even asked Sanders' supporters to come join him and the Republican Party to enact real changes to the political system. That's what people want, they are tired of the system as it works now, and Trump and Sanders are talking change."

Hansen says Winneshiek County Republicans are hopeful that Trump will secure the victory in November, and they remain confident in that chance.

"What he said, the majority of Americans hold those beliefs," Hansen said. "Even though a lot of people discredit him, he will have a good chance to win this election."
