For the 50th anniversary of Nordic Fest, the best Nordic athletes will be able to showcase their speed, strength, and mental fortitude in a new competition dubbed the "Ultimate Norseman Competition."
This competition, which runs the Saturday of Nordic Fest, features challenges to all aspects of an athlete performance. The event will start on Saturday with a 15k run. The run is followed by a rock throw at 1 p.m. in order to test strength. The final event of the day is a lutefisk eating competition to test mental toughness.
The competitors will be divided into "Ole" and "Lena" divisions, while a scoring system will be in place in order to assure the fairest results.
This year, the prize for the winner of each division will be a custom built, Norwegian-themed cooler made by Grizzly.
Early registration online is still available at www.nordicfest.com under "Sporting Events." Those interested may also sign up at the Chamber office until noon on the Friday of Nordic Fest.
