Representatives from North Winneshiek and Decorah School Boards will meet next Monday to discuss the options as the schools move toward a full merger in the 2019-20 school year.
Presently, two options exist. Both school districts could reorganize in partnership. Or, the North Winneshiek School District could dissolve and have its territory and students absorbed by the Decorah School District. Whatever option is selected, the process will include numerous statutory and legal steps before the process is completed.
Superintendent Mike Haluska said that either option provides both positives and negatives for the districts to consider.
