Luther College graduate Clare Slagel has been named the Iowa Conference nominee for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Slagel graduated in 2016 with a 3.92 GPA, majoring in biology. She had an impressive career as a student-athlete, where she was a standout in swimming, particularly in the backstroke.
Her career is highlighted by a pair of NCAA titles in swimming. Slagel owns eight All-American titles, and boasts several academic All-American honors as well. She completes her career in swimming for the Norse with the national title in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke. She is the only swimmer to be named MVP four times at the Liberal Arts Championships.
The 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year winner will be announced at the annual award ceremony in Indianapolis this October.
