Athletic Director Renae Hartl announced last week that Jeff Jones will be taking over the position of Strength and Conditioning Coach for Luther's athletics programs. Jones will begin his duties at Luther at the beginning of August.

A member of Central College's class of 2006, Jones formerly served as the Head Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Auburn University's football team.

"I am excited to be the new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Luther," Jones said. "My wife Rachael and I are both originally from Iowa and we both went to Iowa colleges. Building relationships, coaching, teaching, and developing student-athletes every single day, on-and-off the field is what I am passionate about, and I am grateful for this opportunity to come black close to home do just that."

Jones commented that he liked the direction that Luther was going athletically, and especially thanked President Paula J. Carlson and Hartl.

Head Football Coach Aaron Hafner says that Jones is a welcome addition to Luther's athletic staff.

We are very excited about Jeff becoming our new strength coach," Hafner said. "He is coming from one of the top programs in college football, so he knows what it takes to develop and motivate student-athletes to reach their maximum potential."

Jones' appointment comes just one year after Hartl named Jake Niedermann as Luther's Strength and Conditioning coach.
