Helping Services for Northeast Iowa works to end domestic violence and child abuse, build healthy families, friends and relationships, and empowers people to stop future misuse of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.

With donations from the community making up a big part of the funding, executive Director Carson Eggland credits the public in helping the agency carrying out that important work.

Aside from members of the public acting as mentors and positive role models to young people, Eggland talked about the need for donations of gas cards and grocery cards for clients of Helping Services to help them meet their monthly budgets. Donations also pay for staff travel and organization services.

Another major source of funding for the agency is the annual Holiday Lights fundraiser, which raised $80,000 dollars last year alone.

Helping Services agency has been assisting an average of one new client per day in the area served.
