16-year-old Hanna Schmitt, the daughter of Greg and Sara Schmitt of Waucoma, has been named the 2016 Winneshiek County Fair Queen. 18-year-old Ashley Schwartzhoff, the daughter of Mike and Michelle Schwartzhoff of Decorah, has been named Fair Princess.
The announcements were made Thursday afternoon at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds.
Hanna Schmitt is a member of the National Honor Society, a cheerleader for basketball and football and a member of the volleyball and track and field teams. Hanna is a member of the Turkey Valley Clovers 4-H Club where she has done Share the Fun, Working Exhibit, Educational presentation, visual arts and photography at State.
Ashley Schwartzhoff has been a member of the Decorah Chiefs 4-H Club for nine years and is now the president. She has been active in FFA for four years, where she has received the Greenhand award, Chapter award, and Iowa Degree. In high school she was in volleyball, basketball, and softball all four years.
