The North Winneshiek School District will consolidate with the Decorah School District as of the fall of 2019.  But the two districts have already begun to share some of their administrative positions.

The school board Monday night approved a half-time principal sharing agreement for the 2016-2017 school year with Decorah for the services of Carrie Lee Principal Cheryl Miller.  Miller will split her time evenly between Carrie Lee School and North Winneshiek School.  North Winneshiek contacted Decorah about the sharing arrangement after North Winneshiek Superintendent Tim Dugger was hired to be a shared superintendent between North Winneshiek and Postville, spending 75 percent of his time in Postville this fall.  The new administrative arrangement will save North Winneshiek $23,000 during the 2016-2017 school year.

Also Monday night, the North Winneshiek School Board approved a sharing agreement with Decorah for the operations and maintenance manager position after the current North Winneshiek Maintenance Director resigned.  North Winneshiek will pay Decorah $15,983.82 of DCSD Operations and Maintenance Manager Greg Schaller's salary and benefits.  North Winneshiek will gain an extra $32,000 in state aid for the sharing of this position, so it will have another a positive financial gain from the shared administrator agreements.
