County jail roof is still leaking

Despite the installation of a new roof, the Winneshiek County Jail still is having rain leak into its building.

Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx told county supervisors Monday, "It's a brand new roof--I don't want to patch it."  He said the rainwater that has leaked into the jail building has harmed drywall in the kitchen area.  It's been difficult to determine where the leak is coming from, says Marx, and that has slowed the process of trying to install a new roof.

Marx says he has been in contact with the contractor which installed the new roof, Allen Roofing of Monona, and they have agreed to start over and reinstall a new roof.
