Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new Executive Director

After 12 years of service for the Decorah community, Executive Director of the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce Nikki Brevig has announced that she will be leaving her position in six months, opening the search for a replacement.

In her time as Executive Director, Brevig said she is most proud of the growth that has occurred within the department.

"We have done a good job of growing the organization and supporting local business initiatives," said Brevig. "We have good people and we've done a lot of collaboration."

Brevig was elected as the Chamber Executive of the Year in 2013 by the Mid American Chamber Executives, a Midwest group focused on local commerce.

The search for the new Executive Director has been in the works for a while, in an effort to make the transition as smooth as possible.

"Ideally there will be some overlap time so that I can train that person in to the position," Brevig said. "But the new candidate will have to have a passion for local business and must have a collaborative vision for the future of this community."
