Staff members at Winneshiek Medical Center have begun the process of switching over to a new software system for their Electronic Medical Records.
The WMC Board of Directors earlier this year approved spending $2.5 million for the software from Epic--the same software system used at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Staff members visited Iowa City last month and visited Keosauqua and the Van Buren County Hospital and Clinics.
During July there will be on-site visits of WMC's laboratory, radiology department and information technology department. Chief Financial Officer Lynn Luloff says the goal is to start practicing on the software in September, but the system will not go live until August of 2017.
