Mayo official: "We're really proud" of Winneshiek Medical Center's recent performance

Joe Kruse is the Chief Administrative Officer for Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare, headquartered in La Crosse.  One of his responsibilities is supervision of the administration of Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, since the hospital has a contract with Mayo for managerial services.

Kruse was named CAO in La Crosse in 2012, at the same time Gretchen Dahlen was named CAO at Winneshiek Medical Center.  During his four years in La Crosse, he has accepted Dahlen's resignation in 2014 and has appointed Lisa Radtke as CAO at Winneshiek Medical Center.

Radtke has led WMC to a very strong financial performance in recent months, with the medical center on course to show a $3.5 million net gain in its current fiscal year.  It has also won awards for the quality of its services.

Visiting Decorah on Wednesday, Kruse praised the work of the administrators at WMC.  "We're gratified by the work of this management team," he said.  He noted that morale is up at the hospital, as well as quality measurements and financial indications.  "We're really proud," he concluded.
