The Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs,  has granted the Vesterheim Norwegian-American museum with a Cultural Leadership Partner Operating Support Grant.

The grant will go to support the museum's varied activities throughout the year, including the Norwegian Christmas Weekend and special exhibitions like "From Tradition to Protest: Lila Nelson's Weaving Life" and "Fifty Years of Folk Art."

This grant is geared to create opportunities for the arts to flourish in Iowa by investing in projects that positively impact the artistic vitality of the state. Vesterheim officials are happy to be recognized on this level.

"Through this investment and partnership, the Iowa Arts Council and Vesterheim are working hand-in-hand to ensure that the stories of Iowa are preserved and communicated to connect past, present and future generations," said Vesterheim President/CEO Chris Johnson. "We're so fortunate to receive this public arts funding."
