Road salt bids come in lower than expected

With temperatures in the 80s this week, you're probably not thinking about snowstorms.

But the City Street Department is making preparations for next winter.  Street Superintendent Kevin Nelson has accepted bids for road salt used by the city during the winter--and he's gotten some good news.

Nelson says the low bid he received for road salt was $74.53 per ton.  That's $2.87 per ton lower than it was last winter.
