The City of Decorah is being asked whether it wants to renew its lease on property in the 400 block of West Main that currently is being used as a parking lot.
But one Decorah City Council member has a different suggestion for the property. Steve Luse says the city should buy the property--it is for sale for $330,000, which includes a two-story house--and use the property along West Main Street to build low-income housing units.
Luse says there's a need in the community for such housing. Steve Luse is the council's appointee to the City's LMI Commission and serves as its chair. He is also the chair of the council's property and purchasing committee, which will meet in the future to discuss the issue.
