Decorah man arrested for 2nd offense drunk driving

Decorah Police were called to investigate an accident on College Drive near Luther College around 2:15 a.m. Saturday, but when they got there, the driver had left the scene.

Police officers discovered the car was registered to Tami Mincks of Decorah, but had been driven by Jamie Mincks.  The car had hit a tree on the west side of College Drive, causing around $5,000 in damages.

Almost two hours later, Jamie Mincks called 9-1-1, claiming he was lost and needed a ride.  When police arrived and investigated, they gave him a ride--to the Winneshiek County Jail, where he was charged with Second Offense Operating While Intoxicated..
