Quilts of Valor delivers 12 quilts to veterans

12 Winneshiek County Veterans have received "Quilts of Valor" through the Decorah Quilts of Valor program. Since 2014, Decorah Quilts of Valor has awarded 100 quilts to Winneshiek County veterans.

At a public presentation on Memorial Day at VFW Post #1977 in Decorah, Quilts of Valor were awarded to Charlie Ardinger, John Bale, Michael Viise, Norice Youngblood, Darrell Brunsvold, Jim Dougherty, Dennis Smock, Bill Tieskoette, Edward Youngblood, Harold Lee and Donald Hoden. WWII Veteran Jerome J. Einck was awarded a quilt at a private presentation in his home.

Decorah's Quilts of Valor will be honoring 24 veterans at this year's Nordic Fest. The presentations will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday during Nordic Fest in the Middle School Gym.
