Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity is also helping to build houses in Guatemala

Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity has received word from Habitat for Humanity International that its financial contributions since 1994 have resulted in 41 houses being built in Guatemala.

As an affiliate of Habitat International, Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity is required to tithe to the International office. All US affiliates participate in this program.

"We are pleased to know that we have had an impact in Guatemala as well as here in Winneshiek County," stated WCHFH Executive Director Gus Johnson.  He said the local chapter now can say it has provided decent, affordable housing to 29 families in Winneshiek County and 41 in Guatemala,

WCHH will soon begin renovating the Hesper Friends Church.  A family will be selected in the near future. This family will have a 25 year, no-interest mortgage.  Habitat is not a give away program, but it does help families who aren't able to afford a conventional loan.
