The trend of recent warm and dry weather in Decorah continued in May, according to Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz.

The average daily temperature in Decorah in May was 59.3 degrees--half a degree warmer than normal for the past 121 years.  That average came despite Decorah setting a record low temperature of 27 degrees on May 15th.  Earlier in the month, however, the temperature reached 87 degrees on both May 6th and 7th.

Decorah received 3.20 inches of precipitation in May--just under one inch less than normal.  Four of the five months in 2016 have had below normal precipitation, but over the last 12 months, Decorah is 1.20 inches of precipitation above normal.
