Three-vehicle accident causes $10,000 in damages

A Protivin woman was ticketed following a three-vehicle accident on Mechanic Street around 8:00 Friday morning.

Decorah Police said 56-year-old Cynthia Jestrab struck the rear of a car driven by 25-year-old Irene Bjergum of Decorah.  Bjergum had stopped because the car in front of her, driven by 32-year-old Laura Lange of Waukon, had stopped to make a left turn into a driveway.

Jestrab's SUV struck the rear of Bjergum's vehicle, which pushed it into the rear of Lange's vehicle.  Jestrab's and Bjergum's vehicles each had $4,000 in damages, while Lange's vehicle suffered $2,000 in damages.

None of the three drivers were injured.  Jestrab was ticketed for Failure to Stop in an Assured Distance.
