Fire Department donates breathing units to Winneshiek/Decorah Special Response Team

Decorah Police Chief Bill Nixon, Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx, Winneshiek County Chief Deputy Greg Torgrim, Decorah Fire Department Chief Mike Ashbacher, Delaware County Deputy Travis Hemesath, Delaware County Sheriff John LeClere, Winneshiek County Emergency Manager Sean Snyder

The Decorah Fire Department has donated five newer higher pressure self-contained breathing apparatus units and additional air tanks to the Winneshiek/Decorah Special Response Team.  The new equipment will be used when responding to hazardous waste situations, such as methamphetamine labs.  
 
The previous self-contained breathing apparatuses that will no longer be utilized by the Winneshiek/Decorah Special Response Team will now be donated to the Delaware County Special Response Team.
 
The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office, Winneshiek County Emergency Management, Decorah Fire Department, Rural Fire Department Board, Decorah Police Department and City of Decorah all approved the purchase of the newer units and the donation of the existing units to Delaware County.
