The crash of three motorcycles just before 4:30 Saturday afternoon caused $24,000 in damages, according to the Winneshiek County sheriff's Department.

Deputies say 43-year-old Brian Youngblut of Vinton was northbound on Middle Calmar Road when he left the roadway on a curve at the crest of the road, entered a ditch and was ejected from his motorcycle.

Another motorcycle driver, 26-year-old Jesse Hug of Tripoli, slowed down and was stopping to help Youngblut when a third motorcycle driver, 65-year-old Martin Hubbard of Jesup, struck the rear end of Hug's motorcycle.  Hug and Hubbard were both thrown from their motorcycles onto the pavement due to the collision.

None of the three motorcycle riders were wearing helmets.  Youngblut and Hubbard were taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.  Hug sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Youngblut's 2007 Victory Vegas Motorcycle suffered $12,000 in damages; Hug's 2012 Victory High-Ball Motorcycle had $5,500 in damages; and Hubbard's 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle had $6,500 in damages.
