Luther College misses its fall 2016 enrollment goals

The Luther College Board of Regents has been told that the school will fall short of its goals for the number of students to be enrolled for the 2016-17 academic year.

This fall's enrollment numbers are not yet final, but college officials say they will fall short of what the school had aimed for.

The Board of Regents has approved a preliminary budget for Luther's 2016-17 fiscal year, but will meet in October to approve a final budget.

Luther President Paula J. Carlson says the school will begin a strategic planning process this summer and will complete it in 2018. Says Carlson, "In this challenging and changing environment for higher education, our new strategic plan must be both visionary and realistic. Grounded in our mission, our strategic plan will call us to adapt and innovate so the college will thrive in years to come. We will build and implement this plan together, with teamwork and a shared commitment to Luther College."
