Police identify the driver of the car that crashed into a building in downtown Decorah Friday morning

Decorah Police were called to Washington Street Friday morning after a car crashed into the front of the building housing the Crave Dance Studio.  Crews worked to pick up the glass inside the dance studio and to seal off the window.

Police say 73-year-old Karen Zwanziger of Cedar Falls pulled into a parking spot, but failed to stop her car and it hit the building.  Zwanziger and a passenger, 71-year-old Susan Sauereide of Cedar Falls, were taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by ambulance.  A person inside the building at the time of the accident, Laurie Walter of Decorah, later sought medical attention at WMC on her own.

Police said the accident caused $17,000 in damages.  Zwanziger was ticketed for failure to maintain control of her vehicle.
