Winneshiek Democrats say opening a campaign office now shows they're serious about the upcoming election

Winneshiek County Democrats officially opened a campaign headquarters on Saturday in Decorah in the former Sport Shop location at 218 West Water Street.

Winneshiek County Democratic Party Chair Matt Tapscott says they are opening the campaign headquarters early as part of a drive to elect a majority of Democrats in the Iowa House of Representatives.  The Iowa Democratic Party will be helping local Democrats with funding and staffing.  Tapscott says volunteers will be working at the office through the end of July, then paid staffers will work from August through Election Day.
