Graduating Decorah High School senior Gabriel Varney has been awarded the 2015-2016 Adam J. Bohr Memorial Engineering Scholarship.
The $4,000 scholarship, paid over two years, is given by the Bohr family and McClure Engineering Company of Clive in honor of Adam Bohr. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing the field of engineering and is based on scholastic standing, community involvement and extracurricular activities.
Varney plans to attend Coe College to study pre-engineering.
"Adam was full of energy and not afraid to take on tough challenges. His personality would light up a room – not typical of most engineers," said Terry Lutz, President & CEO of McClure Engineering Company. "When selecting a scholarship winner, we try to find someone that best represents Adam and we believe Gabriel does just that."
