A South Winneshiek FFA Chapter member has won a statewide award

Trygve Lien has been presented the "Star in Agriscience Award" at the State FFA Convention.  His project included bee production, agronomic work and research, community service and custom harvest.  Lien works on his own agriscience test plot, where he researches plant systems and free soil testing services.  He also uses blogs and independent field days to share his findings to benefit growers around him.

After graduation, Lien plans to attend Iowa State University to major in Agronomy with a minor in Climatology.  He is the son of Kelly and Sandra Lien.
 
South Winneshiek FFA member Jessica Schmitt from Turkey Valley was honored at the convention as a "Rising Star Award" finalist.  The award goes to an outstanding sophomore FFA Member.  Schmitt was one of six FFA members statewide named as finalists for the award.
