St. Benedict School third grader Reid Kuehner has taken first place at the Belin/Blank Invention Convention.

He received the "Top Inventor" award for his invention, "The Walker Auto Light."  The light gives disabled persons using walkers the ability to find their way in the dark.

First place went to Derek Tieskoetter for his invention, the "Boot Brush," a hard bristled brush attached to a skid loader or other piece of farming equipment that enables the user to wipe the bulk of mud from their boots prior to entering the cab.

Second place went to Cole Christopher for his invention, the "Tile Un-Roller," a tool which allows smaller people the ability to roll large field tiles more safely than in the past.

Third place went to Gunnar Thorson for his invention, "Scrammer", a tool that combines the best of a hammer and screwdriver into one.

The "Student Choice Award" went to Joey Mount for her rolling horse grooming cart that not only holds all the equipment necessary for grooming a horse, but holds a heavy saddle, blanket and bridle.

26 third graders from St. Benedict School competed in the Regional Invention Convention in December.  The top five inventors from St. Benedict School were chosen to compete at the Iowa State Invent Iowa competition.

The third graders are students in Amy Burroughs' Mary Ann Krammen's classes at St. Benedict School.
