James Jermier has been named as vice president for development at Luther College. He will begin his new duties June 6th.
Since 2007, Jermier has served as director of collegiate development at the University of Northern Iowa, where he led a team of six development officers, with responsibility for the university's four undergraduate colleges. Prior to his current position, Jermier was assistant director of planned giving at UNI from 2004-07.
The University of Northern Iowa has averaged $18.3 million per year in philanthropic support over the past three years, an average that places it among the top 10 nationally for public, non-flagship universities. Jermier was a part of the leadership team that managed an ambitious $150 million comprehensive campaign through the heart of the Great Recession and was successfully completed a year early in 2013.
Jermier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa with a major in physical education. He holds a Master of Arts degree in philanthropy and non-profit development from the University of Northern Iowa.
Jermier succeeds Keith Christensen, who served as Luther's vice president for development for 15 years, and interim development advisor Mark Kronholm.
