The proposed new brewery for Toppling Goliath has cleared an important hurdle.

All six members of the Decorah Planning & Zoning Commission Monday night approved the site plan for the new brewery.  If the Decorah City Council gives its approval next Monday night, construction can begin on the new facility.

The proposal calls for more than 26,000 square feet of space devoted to brewing beer, another almost 11,000 square feet for warehousing and a 9,000 square foot tap room.

The new brewery would be located off Prosperity Road in the Decorah Business Park.  Because the brewery will be in the business park and must meet all of those requirements, Planning & Zoning Commission members had few questions Monday night about the site plan.

"It's a great project," summarized City Manager Chad Bird.
