Applications are now being accepted for the newly created Communications Utility Board of Trustees.
The Decorah City Council is establishing the board of trustees in the wake of a referendum in which voters approved exploring the possibility of establishing a municipal telecommunications utility for the City of Decorah.
The Communications Utility Board of Trustees will have five members appointed by the mayor, with the approval of the city council. Board members will serve six year staggered terms.
The Decorah City Council's Personnel Committee has discussed qualifications for serving on the board and decided it wants a diverse mix of board members, including members with a financial background, experience in marketing or customer service and a strong commitment to the advancement of technology-based efforts in the community. A full list of qualification criteria and the city's volunteer application are available at: http://www.decorahia.org/decorah.asp
One of the first tasks of the newly created board will be to begin to frame a request for proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a feasibility study for the utility network.
The application process is open until Friday, June 17th. Completed applications may be returned to the mayor's office at City Hall, 400 Claiborne Drive, Decorah, IA 52101.
