Winneshiek Medical Center again named among "Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals"

Winneshiek Medical Center has again been named one of the Top 100Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by iVantage.

It's the third year in a row the hospital has earned the designation and the fourth year overall.  

"Winneshiek Medical Center is proud of the efforts of our physiciansand staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation," saysWMC Chief Administrative Officer Lisa Radtke.  

The iVantage Hospital Strength INDEX ranks the country's 1,300 Critical Access Hospitals, measuring them on 62 different performance areas, including quality,outcomes, patient perspective, affordability, population risk and efficiency.  

WMC's hospital strength index rank was 98.8,putting WMC in the top two percent of all rural Critical Access Hospitals in the United States and in the top 25 percent of all U.S. critical access hospitals in thestudy.

Winneshiek Medical Center's staff of more than 450 people provided health care over 113,600 times in 2015.  Winneshiek Medical Center is the second largest CriticalAccess Hospital in Iowa, and provides hospital, clinic, rehabilitation, homehealth and hospice services to the region. Physician services at Winneshiek Medical Center are provided by MayoClinic Health System.  In addition, nineGundersen Health System physicians have active medical staff appointments andprivileges at WMC.
