A tree in Water Street Park has become the "Climate Tree," in a local observance of the national "Break Free From Fossil Fuels" campaign.
The Climate Ribbon Project is part of a series of Break Free Decorah events which will officially begin Thursday, although the Climate Tree has been prepared in time for the opening day of the Winneshiek Farmer's Market.
Participants are being asked to use the blank ribbons and writing utensils tied to the tree to write messages about climate change. The messages will be tied to the tree through May 20th, when the ribbons will be coming down.
